Issue of a Birth Certificate

This service allows customers to request the issue of an official certificate for a newborn to prove the child's lineage, place and date of birth, nationality and religion. The parents must submit their original documents.

Service Process

Conditions & Requirements

Submit the original documents and copies thereof.

If the father is not present, an official power of attorney from the father or his signature on the birth certificate application is required.

Visit a Public Health Center with the documents required by the emirate in which the child was born. UAE nationals can receive the birth certificate through a Mabrouk Ma Yak package, and the birth certificate will be sent to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship on behalf of the client.

Birth certificates attested by Department of Health Abu Dhabi or Dubai Health Authority or Emirates Health Services are equivalent to those of the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The birth certificate must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy of the country in which the birth certificate will be used.

Should the period between the date of birth and the date of marriage be less than 6 months, a proof of paternity from the Court is required in addition to the standard documents.

When registering and issuing birth certificates in the case of stateless parents, 'non-citizen' should be entered in the nationality field, in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

For holders of more than one passport, information used must be that of the passport on which UAE residence is held.

In case of people with no religion or people of non-revealed religions, 'other' should be entered in the religion field.

If a child is born less than 6 months from the date of the marriage certificate or before the date of the marriage certificate, the birth certificate will be registered and issued after the court has issued a final decision establishing paternity.

Other cases should be presented before the Newborn Committee and the birth certificate will be issued upon the approval of the committee.

If a child is born of an inmate of a punitive and correctional institution, the following documents are required

  1. A letter from punitive and correctional establishment.

  2. Original birth notification.

  3. Mother's passport or a letter from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

  4. Record from court stating the names of the mother and child, and the date and place of birth.
