Specialized Kalba Dental Center Recognized as “Age-Friendly Institution” by Sharjah Age-Friendly City Program

18 October 2024

The Specialized Kalba Dental Center has been awarded the prestigious title of “Age-Friendly Institution” in the fifth cycle of the "Age Friendly Institutions" initiative, organized by the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Program under the supervision of the Sharjah Social Services Department. This accolade acknowledges the center's unwavering commitment to creating an accessible and supportive environment for the elderly, ensuring they receive care safely, smoothly, and easily.

This esteemed recognition follows a comprehensive evaluation process, during which the Specialized Kalba Dental Center achieved an impressive 86% compliance with established age-friendly standards. These standards reflect the center's dedication to enhancing infrastructure and services tailored specifically for seniors, including designated parking, accessible entrances, ramps, and personalized support services. The center is committed to ensuring that elderly patients navigate the facility effortlessly.

Dr. Fatima Saeed Al Kaabi, Director of the Specialized Kalba Dental Center, expressed her pride in this significant achievement, stating, “This recognition reinforces our position as a leader in providing specialized, sustainable care for the elderly. Our designation as an ‘Age Friendly Institution’ underscores Emirates Health Services's ongoing commitment to designing facilities that cater to the diverse needs of our community, in line with the UAE leadership’s vision to enhance the quality of life for all, particularly senior citizens.”

The "Age-Friendly Institutions" award was announced at the 13th Senior Services Forum held earlier this month. This award aims to encourage government, private, and semi-government organizations to develop programs and services that promote the well-being and integration of older adults into society. The initiative’s criteria are based on eight key areas established by The WHO Global Network for Age-Friendly Cities and Communities, with evaluations conducted every three years to ensure compliance with a minimum of 80% of the specified standards. These standards encompass engineering, services, facilities, and social empowerment, all aimed at creating a welcoming and supportive environment for senior clients.
