As part of its efforts to enhance the capabilities of all health facilities under its umbrella, Emirates Health Services (EHS) provided the catheterisation department at Fujairah Hospital with a new, highly efficient device to help enhance accuracy, success, and speed of catheterisation procedures performed by the hospital since last year 2021, in line with EHS’ strategy to provide customers with services that meet the highest international standards.
The new device is a landmark addition to the hospital’s medical equipment and services system and one of the most notable of the past year. It is the most advanced of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and has helped upskill medical staff and drive notable success rates in the health and medical services provided by the hospital.
684 Successful Surgeries
Medical staff at Fujairah Hospital performed 684 successful surgeries in the first quarter of the year, including 186 cardiac catheterisation procedures using the new device. Meanwhile, the total number of operations performed in 2021 was 3,135, including 552 cardiac catheterisations, up from 2,533 operations in 2020 that included 252 cardiac catheterisations.
Departments across the hospital also saw a remarkable increase in the number of patients: In January and February, 28,177 customers benefitted from the Hospital’s services both in-person or through virtual clinics, compared to 95,544 customers in 2021, and 85,534 in 2020.
Ahmed Obaid Al Khadim, Director of Fujairah Hospital, asserted that doctors had carried out all surgeries successfully, adding to the Hospital’s track record of distinguished achievements in specialised surgeries. “This has cemented confidence in us at the local level, strengthening the health services sector’s position regionally and globally,” he added. “It has enhanced the already remarkable health services provided by Fujairah Hospital, upskilling medical staff, enhancing the accuracy and quality of operations, and accelerating recovery for patients.”
