Emirates Health Services hosted the first Media Innovation Lab at the headquarters of the General Command of Dubai Police, in the presence of Her Excellency Mubaraka Ibrahim, Director of Health Information Systems Department at EHS, and a number of directors of departments, heads of departments, hospitals and health care centres affiliated with the corporation, as well as journalists and representatives of print and visual media institutions, in addition to news platforms and websites in the country.
The inaugural lab witnessed two sessions, the first comprising four topics: ‘Youth pillar and the active role in creating world-leading media content,’ ‘The role of the media in enhancing the global position of the UAE in the health services sector,’ ‘The media system for the health sector and future aspirations’ and the ‘Social and digital media pillar.’ The second session included announcing the proposed ideas for outputs and initiatives.
The participants in the lab reviewed the role of the Emirates Health Services in enhancing the media presence of the health services sector at the local, regional and global levels, in line with the leadership’s aspirations for leadership and excellence and motivating the media to develop rich and diverse content that reflects the achievements of the UAE in this sector and enhance its global standing.
Her Excellency Mubaraka Ibrahim, praised the media professionals’ presence and participation in the Media Innovation Lab as well as their role and positive contribution to strengthening the health services sector in the country, stressing the corporation’s keenness to fulfill its role and responsibilities towards upgrading the health media scene in the country, and creating joint projects and initiatives with media organizations that are witnessing rapid development.
She said: "Emirates Health Services believes in the role of the media in enhancing the health scene in the country by highlighting the developments in the health care sector in general, documenting its achievements and its contribution to spreading awareness of the value of this sector. The organization of this distinguished laboratory comes within the framework of its desire to work with the media, as they are our main partners in our march towards enhancing the scope and quality of the UAE’s health services and consolidating its leadership regionally and globally.”
She added, "Through the sessions held in the lab, we hope to develop an innovative mechanism that leads to the promotion of fruitful cooperation, in line with the visions and directives of our wise leadership, keeping pace with the UAE Centennial, and enhancing communication tools with all media institutions and their distinguished cadres, as a vital partner and essential supporter of the development movement in the country”.
The lab’s topics highlighted the need to come up with recommendations that lead to optimizing the use of young people’s ideas and creative energies in shaping the future of health services, qualifying specialized young media cadres equipped with future skills and activating their role in contributing to the development of the health services sector, in addition to the role of media institutions in developing a rich and diverse content. The lab reflected the achievements of the health services sector in the country and will contribute to strengthening its position globally, and the extent to which media institutions can provide coverage that enhances the achievements in this vital sector.
The lab also sought to come up with recommendations, including upgrading the role of the media to serve the country’s ambitions in the health services sector, reaching the UAE Centennial 2071 and achieving the Principles of the 50, to move from local to global in media coverage of the health services sector, as well as the relationship between the new media and access to all segments of society. Also reviewed were the target audience, the speed of social media spread and the impact on the target audience segments, in addition to the role that social media can play in introducing the distinguished level of health services.
The lab concluded its work by honoring Dubai Police for its efforts and initiatives to support and enhance work with various institutions and authorities in the country. The media, in turn, were thanked for their efforts and positive contribution to advancing the sustainable development process by highlighting all sectors in the country.
