In a significant addition to its impressive record of achievements, Emirates Health Services (EHS) has announced that its "Ghiath" emergency management and business continuity system has been granted intellectual property rights by the UAE Ministry of Economy. This recognition underscores the system's innovative approach to proactively addressing crises and emergencies, bringing the total number of intellectual properties held by EHS to ten.
H.E. Dr. Yousif Al Serkal, Director General of Emirates Health Services, affirmed that the intellectual property rights granted to the "Ghiath" system highlight its significance as a key pillar in enhancing the healthcare sector’s readiness for future challenges. He emphasized that this aligns with the visionary goals of the UAE leadership to develop vital sectors and position the nation among the most innovative countries globally. This achievement exemplifies EHS’s commitment to implementing global best practices to achieve national strategies such as the "We the UAE 2031" vision and the UAE Centennial 2071, which aim to enhance the quality of life and build a sustainable healthy future.
Dr. Wedad AlMaidoor AlMheiri, Director of the Emergency Operations Center at EHS, expressed pride in the intellectual property recognition for "Ghiath." She stated that the smart system will play a pivotal role in enabling decision-makers to make proactive decisions supported by accurate information regarding vital resources and facility readiness. By providing a centralized data platform, statistical reports, and specialized tools for readiness assessment, "Ghiath" will significantly enhance the effectiveness of emergency response and future challenges.
EHS is the first health authority in the region to digitize risk records, analyze business impact, and create a comprehensive platform for hazardous materials incident response through the "Ghiath" system. This ensures effective and comprehensive emergency response, monitors business continuity and vital resources, and efficiently distributes roles and responsibilities across all departments of the Emergency Operations Center. The system was launched in conjunction with EHS’s participation in Arab Health 2023, aimed at adopting a smart digital system that integrates internal operations with those of strategic partners and establishes a digitized risk management framework and business continuity management (BCM) system per national and international standards.
The "Ghiath" system has been linked to the "Jahiz" system of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority's epidemiological mapping platform, as well as major incident reports in collaboration with the National Ambulance. This positions "Ghiath" as the first of its kind in the digitization of risk management and business continuity activities within the healthcare sector, adhering to the highest international quality and excellence standards, including those of the Joint Commission International (JCI), Government Excellence Framework (G4), ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, ISO 10001 for customer service charters, ISO 10002 for complaint handling and customer satisfaction, and ISO 10004 for measuring customer satisfaction.
