In alignment with Emirates Health Services’ (EHS) sustainable development strategy, H.E. Dr. Yousif Mohamed Al Serkal, Director-General of EHS, visited several primary healthcare centers including Al Salama, Al Manama, Al Khulaibia, Al Halah, and Saif Bin Ali Health Centers. The visit aimed to assess the ongoing efforts to improve services, expand healthcare scope, and meet operational continuity requirements, addressing key challenges and needs to ensure a comprehensive, sustainable, and high-quality healthcare system. Dr. Al Serkal was accompanied by H.E. Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Clinical Services Sector at EHS.
Specialized Services for All Community Sectors
During his visits, Dr. Al Serkal reviewed the centers’ readiness to meet and exceed customer needs. He praised the continuous efforts of Emirates Health Services' staff, noting that current maintenance and development work aims to expand specialized services, increase capacity, and enhance customer comfort. Given that the number of visits recorded this year is about 86,000, Al Serkal emphasized the importance of enhancing medicine stocks and adopting advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, including adolescent health services and asthma clinics at Saif Bin Ali Health Center.
This visit aligns with EHS’ commitment to enhancing the readiness and competitiveness of its healthcare facilities across all levels. By upgrading capabilities and equipping centers with the latest medical and digital technologies, Emirates Health Services’ efforts align with the Zero Government Bureaucracy Program and the leadership’s vision to elevate the healthcare sector, a national priority. Expansion projects are underway at select centers, adding specialized services in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. Throughout development and maintenance phases, EHS is dedicated to ensuring continuous service for all visitors by expanding telehealth offerings and extending operational hours.
Sustainable Infrastructure with Global Standards
The visits included a review of infrastructure maintenance projects and internal and external upgrades at these centers to ensure alignment with the highest global quality standards. This initiative underscores the importance of completing projects on schedule. Emirates Health Services is committed to integrating the latest environmental systems and renewable energy sources, employing innovative and sustainable construction materials and practices, and adhering to the Joint Commission International (JCI) standards for safety and security. This approach enhances readiness to manage crises and resource efficiency, particularly during emergencies and extreme weather conditions.
Keeping customer needs at the core of development efforts, the centers are undergoing comprehensive infrastructure updates, including new sections to support specialized services. The upgrades also involve replacing flooring, paint, ceilings, lighting, amenities, doors, and other interior and exterior elements, aligning with the UAE’s vision to achieve excellence and leadership in healthcare services.
Flexibility, Preparedness, and Innovative Solutions
As part of EHS’ proactive measures, Al Serkal emphasized the importance of adopting best practices and finding innovative solutions to address expected weather challenges, facilitating access to healthcare centers and ensuring uninterrupted service, particularly with the upcoming rainy season. He highlighted the need to strengthen logistics, accelerate maintenance and expansion efforts, and enhance the role of Customer Happiness Centers to provide an efficient and sustainable healthcare system, ensuring an exceptional experience that meets customers' expectations and boosts their satisfaction.
Leading Community Initiatives
The visit highlighted the dedicated efforts of healthcare professionals in delivering innovative, comprehensive care that supports individual and community well-being. Initiatives included school health screenings, preventive congenital heart disease checks, and a childhood obesity treatment program. Additional services introduced included kidney dialysis, dental care, early diabetic retinopathy screening, and geriatric and non-communicable disease care, enhancing EHS's commitment to providing inclusive healthcare across the UAE.
