What is professional burnout?

Professional burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion as a result of excessive and continuous pressure. Professional burnout reduces productivity and drains your energy, gradually making you feel helpless, hopeless, pessimistic, and dissatisfied.


Symptoms:

  • Feeling tired and exhausted most of the time.
  • Decreased immunity and frequent infection with diseases.
  • Frequent headaches or muscle pain.
  • Change in appetite or sleeping habits.
  • A feeling of failure and self-doubt.
  • Feeling helpless, trapped, defeated, and losing motivation.
  • The outlook gradually becomes more pessimistic and negative and satisfaction and sense of accomplishment are reduced.
  • Postponing work, delaying its completion, and withdrawing from responsibilities
  • Skipping work or coming late and leaving early.

Causes of job burnout:

  • Tendency toward perfectionism: Do not accept good work, but always strive for the best.
  • A pessimistic view of oneself and the world.
  • Need for control Unwillingness to delegate tasks to others.
  • Working a lot without getting enough time to socialize or relax.
  • Not getting enough sleep.

How do I deal with job burnout:

  • Socializing is a natural remedy for stress, and talking face-to-face with someone who listens well is one of the quickest ways to calm your nervous system and relieve stress.
  • Reduce communication with negative people.
  • Find balance in your life
  • Take time to rest.
  • Take time to think about your hopes, goals and dreams, and nurture your creative side.
  • Make time to rest, get enough sleep.
  • Learn how to reduce stress in the present moment, by managing disturbing thoughts and feelings.
  • Improve your relationships at work and at home, which helps increase your overall health and happiness.
  • Try rhythmic exercise such as walking, jogging, weight training, swimming, martial arts, or even dancing
