The Thalassemia Center at Fujairah Hospital has received accreditation from the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF), headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus. TIF is a global patient-driven umbrella federation with 232 member associations in 62 countries worldwide. It operates in official relations with the World Health Organization, the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and the European Commission.
In December 2017, the Fujairah Thalassemia Center was honored with the TIF Collaborating Center of Excellence certificate. This recognition was bestowed upon them for their practical and high-quality holistic services provided to patients with Thalassemia and other Haemoglobinopathies. The evaluation confirms that the center adheres to the TIF International guidelines for managing transfusion-dependent thalassemia and fulfills the requirements of the TIF accreditation program.
