Zena is the Chair in Nursing at the RCSI, University of Medicine and Health Sciences, is Head of the School of Nursing & Midwifery and Director of the Skin Wounds, and Trauma (SWaT) Research Centre at RCSI. Zena’s area of research interest is Wound Healing & Tissue Repair, and she has published over 280 articles, guidelines, consensus documents and book chapters in this field. Zena is chair of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, International Guideline Governance Group and is also a Past President of the European Wound Management Association. Zena is an Adjunct Professor, School of Nursing & Midwifery, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia, a Visiting Professor at Ulster University, an Honorary Visiting Professor, Cardiff University, Cardiff, Wales, a Professor at the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Ghent University, an Honorary Professor, Lida Institute, Shanghai, China and an Adjunct Professor, Department of Nursing, Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences, Jeddah, KSA.
Nasreen Abdelatif is a passionate certified Wound/Tissue Viability and Podiatry Specialist Nurse for the last 12 years. B.Sc. Nursing, University of Sharjah, UAE. MSc Skin Integrity Skills & Treatment, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK. PG Dip. Intl. Interprofessional Wound Care Course, Toronto university of medicine, Canada. 1-year course in Chronic and Acute Wounds. Physiopathology and care, Spanish National Health System. All the above mentioned certification and skills empower Nasreen to be one of the pioneer tissue viability nurses at the Northern region of United Arab Emirates
Nasreen have worked for 19 years for two facilities under the umbrella of Ministry of Health and currently joined Al Qassimi Hospital, under Emirates Health Services (EHS) experiences. Nasreen has achieved leader skills in the field of wound care and podiatry, by participating in setting up the facility protocols, workflow and EHS documentation platform in the field of Tissue Viability.
Nasreen have completed and Advance laser Competency Certification Course, obtained trainer certificate of 4D tissue bio printing procedure since 2020 and participated on ongoing Series of Pressure Injury prevention workshops as Speaker and organizer. An active member of facility quality improvement project of reducing and prevention of injury. Nasreen was the Owner and Chairperson of wound care team training program for Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (SKMCA) nurses from October 2018 – May 2018 and awarded nursing innovation award for SKCMA. May 10th 2018. Was the Organizer of a Limb Amputation Prevention Care program for the Primary Health Care Sector of North Emirates Nurses lectures and workshop.
As an added other related professional interest Nasreen have completed Infection Control and Prevention Training Course and accomplished Towards Diabetes Educator certification program.
